Questions
What counts as an offer?
A price below the merchant’s own listed price, or below the price we recorded for that bottle in recent weeks. We check the same way for the letter and for Wine Watcher.
Is The Vine-Letter a wine price tracker?
In effect, yes. Every week we record the price of each bottle at the merchants we follow, so a reduction is measured against what that bottle actually sold for, not just the merchant’s own “was” price. The letter and Wine Watcher are both built on those records.
Can I search for a particular wine?
Yes, with Wine Watcher. Type a few words from the wine’s name, such as a producer and a vintage, and we show you the matching bottles across every merchant we track. Save it, and we email you a price alert whenever one is reduced.
How do I tell Wine Watcher what to look for?
Type a few words that appear in the wine’s name, such as "Musar 2017" or "Chablis Vaillons". Every word must appear, in any order, and you can add words to rule things out. As you type, we show you which wines it would catch.
How many wines can I watch?
Basic, included with the letter, watches one wine. Plus watches up to 4 for £1 a month more, and Premium up to 10 for £2, on the same bill. Swap wines in and out whenever you like, and change plan at any time.
What is My Cellar?
A record of the wines you own, included with every subscription. Photograph a label to log a bottle, add how many you have, what you paid and where it’s kept, and see your cellar’s estimated value, based on current prices at the merchants we track. Coming soon: a Monday summary and, for Wine Watcher Premium, an alert when a wine you own goes on offer.
Which countries do you cover?
There are editions for the United Kingdom, the United States, Hong Kong, Australia and South Africa, each following merchants in that country and priced in the local currency. See Editions.
Do merchants pay to be featured?
No. We take no commission from merchants, and picks are chosen on value alone.
